LONDON (April 26, 2023) – SQUARE ENIX® launches the immersive live-action mystery-adventure game The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story on the App Store® and Google Play™ following its acclaimed 2022 debut for the PlayStation®5 (PS5™) console, PlayStation®4 (PS4™) console, Nintendo Switch™ system and PC (STEAM®).

Directed by Koichiro Ito (Metal Gear Solid V) and produced by Junichi Ehara (NieR:Automata™), The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story combines live-action sequences and high-quality cinematography to reach new heights of visual storytelling. Players step into the role of Haruka Kagami, a mystery writer who must use her powers of deduction to investigate four inexplicable deaths, all of which befell the Shijima family in the last century.
Cinematographer and Scenario Director Yasuhito Tachibana (Netflix’s The Naked Director) guides players through gripping cinematics set across different eras of Japan. Compelling performances by Nanami Sakuraba as Haruki Kagami and Yuta Hiraoka as Eiji Shijima, the family heir who returns home to help uncover the truth, headline an authentically traditional Japanese story with talented actors depicting an array of period-specific characters.
On mobile devices, The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story utilizes touch-screen controls while making quality-of-life improvements to various gameplay aspects. Spot clues within live-acted scenes before connecting the dots in the deduction phase, now with more intuitive logical connections. Form hypotheses for each time period to open the door to the hidden final chapter.
